Why Use Recycled Plastic?Updated 7 months ago

All of the recycled plastic we use is either PP (polypropylene) or PET (polyethylene terephthalate), which is mainly from recycled water bottles, other beverage containers and even recycled appliances. This is because these 2 types of plastic are the most highly recyclable types and are recyclable worldwide, providing a lot of supply. There are two different kinds of recycled plastics: PCR (post-consumer recycled) and PIR (post-industrial recycled). Our products use at least 50% certified PCR. We certify through the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), or through Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP) certifications, which are fully auditable chain of custody certifications. This is the only way to verify a company is actually using PCR. Some companies may claim they are using recycled plastic but without a third party verification, you cannot know if its 100% PCR, or 2% PIR.

The benefits of using recycled plastic are:

  • We’re giving plastics a second life and creating a market for recycled material, therefore supporting the recycling process
  • Helps us to divert plastic from landfills and oceans
  • The carbon footprint is lower than producing virgin plastics
